Kindergartens
Solutions for the pressures facing our kindergartens must have immediate effect, and we must acknowledge that pedagoes and hjálparfólk are an integral part of our kindergartens today, and our kindergartens could not function without them.
We must also:
Ensure consistency, stability and room for growth by
· Lowering the number of children per class sooner rather than later.
· Guaranteeing that when/if a class goes from 12 to 10 children, that class retains the staff member assigned for 12 children
· Supporting those hjálparfólk who wish to seek professional bachelor degrees in pedagogy.
· Creating a system where all staff members are able to develop their skills and those skills necessary to aid their positions
· Upgrading our indoor and outdoor facilities in a timely manner
· Ensuring children with special needs receive the support hours they need and in accordance to their need
· Continually striving to ensure Pedagoes and Hjálparfólk feel valued and thrive in their positions within our day-care institutions, it’s the only way to ensure our children have a positive kindergarten experience.
· Making it easier for Leaders to accommodate holidays, especially during the summer break with substitute staff
As a hjálparfólk who works on the ground in a nursery, I will continuously work to ensure that our kindergartens become the best they can be and that staff members are able to thrive in their working environment. It’s only in doing this, that we will be able to give our children the best kindergarten experience, which of course, is the perfect grounding for their educational future.
